TCE is an ozone-depleting substance that can persist in the environment. It is known to affect the central nervous system, liver and kidneys. Since 2008 the EU has severely restricted the use of TCE in both products and fabric cleaning. Chlorinated solvents are very toxic and can be avoided by switching to certified organic clothing.
